How to Temporarily Cover an Old Countertop

As I write this, Christmas is almost here and we don't have time to buy a new counter top. Here is a quick fix idea that worked for us.
Instructions
Things You'll Need:
- Granite or other floor tiles
- less than an hour of time
-
Step 1
Measure counter top and take the measurements to the flooring store or a major supplier of home flooring goods.
-
Step 2
Find granite or other floor tiles on sale. Granite will give a more stylish look and can often be obtained very inexpensively, especially on sale.
-
Step 3
If you want to have the tiles fit your counter exactly, you may have to ask that tiles be cut to size.
-
Step 4
Bring home tiles and lay out on counter. Do not glue them down. You are done. The weight of the tiles will hold them in place but you can add felt pads to the bottom if you want to protect the old counter from further damage.
