How to Fix the Graphics in Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer is the world's most popular Internet browser, yet at the same time it is one of the more buggy and complicated ones. A common recurring problem with Internet Explorer is that certain sites will change the browser's image settings, causing graphics not to show up properly, if at all. This is easily fixable if you follow the steps outlined here.

Instructions

Step 1Update your Internet Explorer browser. The simplest way of fixing Internet Explorer problems is to simply download the latest version of the program. First, however, check the the version of your browser. Click the "Help" menu and then click "About Internet Explorer" to see your browser's current version. If you do not see the Help menu, it may be hidden, and to show it you simply right-click the top toolbar and select "Menu Bar" so that it is checked. You should now see the Help menu. Once you have determined your Internet Explorer version, check to see if there is a newer one available. To do so, use the Internet Explorer Download website found in the Resources section below. Simply point your browser to the site and see if a newer version is available. If so, choose a download option and follow the onscreen instructions to download the program and save it to your Desktop or some other easily accessible folder. If you already have the latest version of Internet Explorer, skip Step 2 and go to Step 3.

Step 2Install Internet Explorer. Once you have downloaded the program, go to where you saved it and double-click the setup program to begin the installation. Follow the onscreen prompts to install the newest version of Internet Explorer. You may be asked to restart your computer, so be sure to save all your work before proceeding. Upon completion of the entire process, launch the browser and point it to your favorite site. The graphics should now function properly. If for some reason they do not, go to Step 3.

Step 3

Show PicturesTurn on the graphics in the Internet Explorer Options. Go to the Tools menu and select "Internet Options." An options menu will pop up. Go to the the Advanced menu and scroll down until you see the multimedia section. You will see an option that says "Show Pictures." Make sure this option is checked. Save the settings by clicking "OK" and restart the browser. The graphics should now show up as normal.

Step 4Reset all the settings in Internet Explorer if the above steps did not work. Go to the Tools menu, choose "Internet Options" and select the "Advanced" tab. On the bottom right you will see a button that says "Reset." This will change all the settings to the original ones set by Microsoft. Note that doing this will erase any settings and/or personal changes you have made to the browser.
