How to Install Storage Shed Flooring

Your garage is way too cluttered, and the car has been relegated to the driveway. You need a shed. An 8-foot-by-6-foot recycled plastic storage shed fits your needs and your conscience, but setting it on a concrete or wood foundation defeats your environmentally-friendly intent. Flooring made of recycled plastic grids is long lasting, lightweight and easy to install. There is no need to dig or frame the excavation, and you can complete your storage shed floor in a single afternoon.
InstructionsThings You'll Need:
Tape measure
4 wooden stakes
4 nails
Hammer
String
Rake
Hoe
Garden spade
Landscape fabric
50ml thick, 500ml-by-500ml plastic grids
Hand saw
Pea gravel
Broom
Preparation
Step 1Check with your local zoning office to determine which permits are required and if there are any applicable restrictions before you start to install your storage shed.

Step 2Determine where you will place your shed and measure the area. Mark each corner with a wooden stake. Tap a nail into each stake with the hammer. Wrap the string around the nails, working corner to corner at 90 degree angles, to mark off the area.

Step 3Clear the area with the rake and hoe; ensure the area is firm and even. Level high places and fill low ones using the garden spade.

Installation
Step 1Cover the cleared area with a layer or two of landscape fabric to curb plant growth through your storage shed floor. This also minimizes the moisture buildup and helps protect your belongings from damage.

Step 2Cut the plastic grids to fit, using the handsaw. The grids interlock for ease of assembly; simply place them to fit.

Step 3Fill in the plastic grids with pea size gravel, and your flooring is complete. Sweep away any excess gravel and you are ready to place your storage shed.
